Individual competitions are prevalent in our current education system leading to students unable to perform well in teams. To break away from this custom, Al-Faisal organizes a group project day in each term i.e. three times a year. During this day, students are divided into groups having heterogeneous abilities and are assigned multiple tasks which they have to complete in the form of teams within stipulated time limits. Through this activity, Al-Faisal aims to help students to learn to work together with individuals having different abilities, to lead a team, to follow a leader and to work efficiently to complete a project. These skills of leadership and teamwork will help them succeed in their future professional work lives.
Only a healthy body contains a healthy mind. Thus, students must be physically active and fit to achieve excellence in academics. In addition to this, sports help to promote important values of courage, discipline, teamwork, physical and mental strength. Al-Faisal Grammar High School holds a sports day annually in which students take part in various sports and games. This event brings awareness to the importance of physical activities in students’ lives.
Students are full of potential and their abilities can only be enhanced through exposure in various activities. Al-Faisal aims to develop ethical and moral values in students through these activities. For instance, a strong character is integral to success in professional as well as personal life. For this, 9th class students are tasked with preparing an annual drama that culminates in a moral lesson. This activity provides students with an opportunity to work on their performing arts and acting abilities while the audience is able to learn a moral lesson with a fair bit of laughter as well.
Student gala is a cumulative celebration of all the annual national and religious events. This day is celebrated with full zeal and fervor to praise our national heroes and to promote religious values among students. For this, various competitions like qirat, naat, speeches, and national songs are held among students. These competitions are a great way to let them express their creative skills and to enhance their confidence. Through this, Al-Faisal aims to enhance the communication skills of its students to prepare them for success in their future lives.
Science is all around us and only through its complete knowledge can students hope to get ahead in professional life and develop understanding of nature around them. Al-Faisal supplements the teaching of science with the organization of an annual science exhibition to which parents are also invited. Students present their assigned topics individually through 3D working models. This provides a venue to them to develop as problem-solvers, critical thinkers, and good communicators. Additionally, it enhances the knowledge of the science subject through reasoning and logical thinking.
An annual spelling bee competition is also held by Al-Faisal. The purpose of this competition is to bring improvement and enhancement in students’ English language skills. They learn to pronounce and spell various words accurately. Participants as well as the audience members are able to obtain additional benefits from this activity as it also enhances their listening skills.
Al-Faisal arranges a quiz competition each year to develop interest and to enhance knowledge of Islamic studies, social studies, and science among students. This activity exposes students to a competitive environment similar to which they will be facing in their future professional lives and develops their abilities to deal and excel in such circumstances. Additionally, it is an excellent source of learning for the audience members as well.
Al-Faisal Grammar High School holds a poster competition for students at the start of each year. This event aims to enhance students’ creative and drawing skills and communication through visuals. These posters not only increase the school decoration when displayed on walls but are also a source of student appreciation and motivation.
Books are as essential for learning as oxygen is for life. As Dr. Seuss said, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you will go.” Al-Faisal aims to develop reading skills among students through the provision of books according to students’ needs and interests. For this purpose, a book fair is organized annually having carefully selected high quality books.
Social welfare, civic engagement and humanity are at the center of education here at Al-Faisal. For this purpose, an annual charity week is organized by the school. Teachers narrate the religious, social, and personal benefits of charity and encourage students to give for the underprivileged as much as they can from their own pocket-money. In the end, the collected amount is submitted to some renowned welfare organization.
As Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said, “Cleanliness is half of faith.” Thus, keeping the environment clean is our religious as well as national responsibility. Furthermore, blatant disregard for environmental cleanliness has led to climatic changes that are causing significant detrimental impacts on human lives all around the world. Al-Faisal conducts an annual environment and cleanliness week to spread climate change awareness and to promote the importance of cleanliness among students.
Al-Faisal Grammar High School conducts a farewell party for the outgoing 10th class. This ceremony marks the completion of their academic journey through Al-Faisal and is a way to appreciate their efforts and hard work. Students are encouraged to keep up their hard work and are motivated to strive for success and greater achievements in their future professional and personal lives; based on the skills and lessons learnt from their time here at Al-Faisal.
Success and consistent growth is possible only through having effective and efficient team members working tirelessly for the academic and personal uplift of students. Al-Faisal organizes an annual farewell party for staff members having left the preceding year to offer gratitude, love and respect for their impactful services. They are our strength and this event acknowledges the integral part that they have played in our success story and many years of achievements.
